Some flames go out long before we dare to accept it. Much like the realisation we have after a decision was made with the wrong outcome, we actually desired all along.
We hold onto a single memory many years after it was created to restore our own hope and belief in love and what it was at the time the memory was created, but to revisit the feelings it gave us at the time.
Over time, it starts to haunt us, the possibilities, I mean, of what could’ve or should’ve been had the choices been made differently. Something that was once taken deeply for granted is now a mere recurring memory or the “what if”.
At times, the place, situation or person is within reach, magnifying the pre-existing memory only to burn out was we shift in our journey.
Such a painful price to pay for choosing a different path, place, or person. Memories are like that, you either can’t stop remembering them for everything good they provided, or you pray to forget them because of everything they took from you.
Don’t become so bitter about your choices that the only memory you have is the one that saw you miss the greatest opportunity of your life.
