A Gift Before Asking Romans 12:10-12 - Personal blog of Trisha Rapley, Australian Author.

He stood there, quiet, steady, and I could see the weight of the world balanced in the way he held himself.

He said, softly but firmly, "Don’t give me your heart until I ask for it."

And in that moment, I understood something sacred. My love is not a reward to be earned. It is a gift, pure and unbound, placed in my hands by God, meant to be given freely, tenderly, and without hesitation.

He does not need to prove his worth to me.

He does not need to climb steps or navigate trials to make me love him.

My heart does not attach itself to conditions, nor does my affection require validation. It flows because God has directed it to him. It is anchored in grace, in faith, in the divine alignment of our paths. He stands before me, and in his presence, my heart opens—already knowing.

His value is not measured in deeds, words, or strength. It is inherent, given by God, and seen fully through my eyes, through the quiet knowledge of my heart.

I love him not for what he has done, but because he is, and because God has placed him here, before me, in this time, in this moment. My love is not a test; it is a reflection of God’s faithfulness in our meeting.

And yet, there is a sacred rhythm in our connection. While he does not need to earn my heart, he is called to grow—spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

To cultivate patience, humility, and strength.

To remain in prayer, with God in his hands and in his heart, allowing divine guidance to direct his thoughts, his words, and his actions. Every choice he makes in life, when surrendered to God, is an offering to the love that already exists between us.

My love works this way: it is deep, unwavering, and generous, but it thrives in the soil of intention. It blooms when hearts are aligned with God’s will, when presence is cultivated, when hands are steady, when words are tender, and when faith shapes the way he walks through life.

He does not earn my love by proving himself to me, but by proving himself to God. Every act of integrity, every moment of self-reflection, every prayer offered with sincerity—these are the ways he deepens the sacred bond that already exists.

This is not a transaction.

It is a dance of two souls moving in trust, in reverence, in holy alignment with the One who brought us together. So I give my love freely, without hesitation, without condition, without holding back. And I watch as he grows, as he leans into God, as he allows divine wisdom to guide his heart and his hands.

My love is a gift, and in giving it, I witness the unfolding of God’s plan—not a plan of perfection, but of devotion, not a plan of obligation, but of grace.

In this sacred space, I see the beauty of our connection: a love that does not demand, a love that does not weigh, a love that flourishes in freedom, faith, and presence. And in knowing him, truly seeing him,

I understand that my heart is already full, already given, already aligned with God’s purpose, and yet it is also patient, gentle, and expectant—ready for him to meet me in the fullness of his growth, his prayer, his presence, his surrender.

My love is a gift.

His life, his growth, and his obedience to God are the response to the grace already extended.

We are two souls walking in faith, one heart freely given, the other called to rise in alignment with the One who orchestrates it all.

And in that, I am content, reverent, and fully alive in love.

Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Romans 12:10-12

Lord,

Thank you for guiding my heart to love freely, without hesitation or condition.

Thank you for the gift of a heart that can give fully, and for the wisdom to understand that love is not earned, but entrusted.

Bless the man you have placed before me. Strengthen him spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Guide his hands, his words, his thoughts, and his actions. Fill him with your presence, Lord, so that every step he takes is aligned with your will, and every choice deepens the sacred connection we share.

Teach him humility, patience, and faith, and let him see the beauty of a love freely given. May he remain in prayer, open to your guidance, allowing you to direct his heart, his hands, and his life.

Lord, let my love be unconditional and forever, rooted in you and flowing freely to him, not shaken by circumstance, not diminished by time.

May it be a reflection of your own perfect love, and may it always nurture, honour, and bless the life you have intertwined with mine.

Amen.
