The more I see how far I have come in my journey the more I understand how hard it is for people to change.
It has taken what seems like forever to get to the position I am in today; strong, resilient, powerful, and brave.
I realize that when I was beginning to heal there was no one on earth that could do it for me. It was a choice I had to make personally.
And while people shared their knowledge and wisdom about their experiences ultimately it came down to me.
What I wanted to do and whether I was going to do it at all. So now today more than any other day I understand that it was fucking tough for me to accept the things I needed to change.
Trying to help people will always run the risk of it not helping only hindering their already established issues. That being said it is still okay to give them advice, knowledge, or share your story.
Maybe one day when we least expect it or they least expect it they will lean on that information or use it as a resemblance to what they are facing or trying to overcome.
The worst thing we can do is expect people to change their ways by only listening to us. Their journey is based on what they want for themselves not what we want for them.
It's important to remember that. Seeing yourself as a guide rather than a traveller makes helping someone through a tough situation less damaging to your own healing than it would be if you tried to take all of their stuff on.
Always be the person that cheers others on and helps guide them in dark times but from the sidelines because they need to run their own race, while you run yours.
Changing Forever...
