She does not rush toward his heart—she approaches it the way one approaches holy ground, barefoot in wonder, aware that some things are not taken, only revealed.
There is a curiosity in her that feels ancient, not born of impatience, but of reverence. She wants to know him—not the stories he offers the world, not the strength he has learned to wear like armour, but the places where his breath softens, where his truth rests without defence.
She studies the way silence settles around him, how his eyes seem to carry both storms and still waters, how his laughter arrives like light breaking through clouds. There is awe in her gaze—not because he is perfect, but because he is becoming, and she recognises the sacred beauty of a man still unfolding.
She sees a light in him. Not the kind that demands attention, but the kind that glows quietly, steady and warm, the unmistakable presence of Jesus resting in his spirit. It shows in his restraint, in the gentleness beneath his strength, in the way compassion lingers even when words fall short.
She knows that light—she has met it before in prayer, felt it in her own moments of surrender.
And so her longing is careful.
It does not seek to conquer or consume.
It seeks to understand.
To sit beside him in honesty.
To know how he loves, how he fears, what shaped the man he is now and what still aches quietly within him.
She wonders what it would feel like if he let her see the unguarded places—the rooms of his heart that remain locked not because they are empty, but because they once held pain. She does not wish to fix him. She only wishes to be trusted with his truth, to love him in a way that does not rush his healing but honours it.
At night, when the world grows still, she brings him before God, not as a request to possess, but as a prayer to steward love well. She asks that his heart would open not by pressure, but by peace. That he would know safety in her presence, and freedom—not obligation—in her affection.
She longs to love him the way Jesus loves—with patience that waits, with truth that does not wound, with grace that makes room for growth. And she hopes, quietly, that if his heart ever opens to hers, it will be because it recognises home.
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
Deuteronomy 31:6
Lord,
You who see every hidden place, every guarded door, every hope unspoken—I place his heart in your hands.
If it is your will, soften what has been hardened by hurt, heal what has learned to stay closed for survival. Teach me how to love him rightly—not selfishly, not fearfully, but in a way that reflects you.
Give me patience where waiting is required, wisdom where silence is needed, and humility to step back when love must be entrusted to you alone.
If you allow our hearts to meet, let it be gently, honestly, and in your perfect time.
Amen.
