Monkey See, Monkey Do - Personal blog of Trisha Rapley, Australian Author.

I have found that when you take care of yourself, your children see that and do the same by taking care of themselves, too.

That "monkey see, monkey do" theory is real!

I found I'm a better mum when I look after myself first. I'm stronger, healthier, happier, more consistent and more present within myself, which makes me more stable and more grounded for them.

Self-care isn't just about nail and hair appointments, or buying new shoes or a dress. It's how we eat, sleep, breathe, how we love and care for our bodies on the inside too.

Our children are watching even when we think they're not! Be ever so mindful of everything. The food you eat and the company you keep.

Our children are an extension of us, little mirrors, little monkeys, and if it's good for us, well, it's good for them. Stay aware, so they stay safe, healthy, happy, strong, and full of life.

Yes, we are generations upon generations, and the lessons one generation learns from the other may not; the key is consistency and awareness.

And if, like me, you're the chain breaker, the black sheep, or the generational breaker, you know better than anyone that it's the little things that make the difference. The small shift in decisions, the better choices, and the sacrifices that come from our struggle to make our children suffer less.

Never stop wanting to be a better version of yourself for your children and those you love. They may never say it, but they love you so much more for it all, and so will their children and their children's children.

Stay focused, and in the strength and light Jesus created you to be!!
