Steering Wheel Prayers Revelation 21:4 - Personal blog of Trisha Rapley, Australian Author.

I know God in my car, too—before stepping into the hospital, before the weight of responsibility settles on my shoulders. I pray with my hands on the steering wheel, asking not for ease, but for strength, wisdom, and compassion.

I ask Him to go before me into every room, every conversation, every moment where life hangs in delicate balance. That drive becomes holy ground, not because of where I’m going, but because of who I’m walking with.

Inside the hospital, God moves quietly. He does not announce Himself, yet His presence is unmistakable. I pray between patients’ breaths—soft prayers, whispered in my heart, offered in moments too fragile for words. I pray while watching monitors rise and fall, while holding space for pain, fear, hope, and grief. God is there when hands are held tightly, and He is there when they finally let go.

I have prayed over patients as they pass away, trusting that the same God who stood beside me in the room would carry them gently into eternity. In those moments, faith is not loud or dramatic—it is sacred and still. God becomes comfort, peace, and assurance when there are no human answers left.

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.

Revelation 21:4

Lord,

Meet me before I step inside—in the stillness of my car, with my hands on the steering wheel and my heart open to You. I release the weight I carry and ask for what only You can give: strength for the work ahead, wisdom for each decision, and compassion that does not run dry.

Go before me, Lord, into every room and every moment where life feels fragile and time feels thin. Let Your presence fill the spaces where words cannot reach.

Walk quietly beside me in the hospital halls. Be near in the rise and fall of each breath, in the silence between heartbeats, in the prayers whispered without sound. Hold the pain, the fear, the hope, and the grief that pass through my hands and heart.

And when I stand at the edge of life and death, remain close. Be peace where answers end, comfort where goodbye is spoken, and light where the way feels dim.

Carry each soul gently into Your care, and carry me too, Lord, through every sacred moment.

Amen.
