Still As One Psalm 46:10 - Personal Blog of Trisha Rapley, Australian Author.

Updated: 2 days ago

What if we just stopped?

Not running, not chasing, not striving.

What if we sit still, beneath the weight of the sky, and let the world slip away, leaving only this moment, you and I, and the breath we share?

I want to stop the noise, to set down the burdens that press upon my chest, and simply be.

No pretending.

No expectations.

Just the quiet truth of two hearts, exposed and tethered by love.

When I look at you, I forget the hours, the days, the endless motion of life. I forget the “shoulds” and “musts” that push me forward. All I see is you—the way your eyes hold space for my soul, the way your presence stills the storms inside me. And in that stillness, I find God in you, in the sacred pause, in the surrender of striving, in the simple act of being fully present.

I want to sit here with you, forget the world, forget tomorrow, forget everything but this—our hands entwined, our breaths mingling, our hearts speaking in silence. There is no need to chase, no need to prove or perform, because love, real love, is not earned—it is felt, and it grows in the spaces we allow ourselves to simply be.

And yet, there is beauty in letting go of control, in allowing time to pass without forcing the outcome. God whispers in these quiet moments: “Rest. Breathe. Trust.”And as we sit here, hearts open, I understand that sometimes surrendering is the truest form of love.

Not clinging.

Not demanding.

Not racing.

Simply being.

If I sit here with you, will you stay?

If I let go of the need to chase, will you meet me in the stillness? Because love is not about running faster or holding tighter. It is about choosing presence, over and over, in every breath, in every glance, in every quiet heartbeat. And in that sacred space, I feel it—the grace of God, the truth of our hearts, and the eternal possibility of love without end.

So let us sit here, beneath the stars, beneath the weight of our lives, letting silence speak, letting love linger, letting God hold us as we discover the power of being still together.

For in stillness, there is knowing.

In surrender, there is strength.

And in each other’s presence, there is eternity.

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

Psalm 46:10

Lord,

Thank you for the moments when I can stop running, when I can set down the weight of life and simply be.Thank you for love that asks not for speed, but for presence. Thank you for the heart you place before us, for the quiet grace of being seen and held.

Teach me to surrender without fear, to trust without reservation, and to love without striving or chasing. Help me to recognise the sacred in stillness, and to honour the moments you give me to simply lie still with the ones I love.

May our hearts be aligned with you, Lord, our breaths synchronised in your peace, and our souls anchored in the truth of your presence.

Let love flourish in patience, grace, and reverence, and may we always remember that in you, we are fully known, fully loved, and fully free.

Amen.
